A cone headed snake with a distinctly pointed snout. Plain light brown to reddish brown in coloration. Upper labials 5 in number; a horizontal loreal scale ; internasals fused together into a single scale. Scales keeled; anal divided. Young; about 4" at birth.
Similar species: Smooth earth snakes have 6 upper labials and smooth or weekley keeled scales. The Brown Snakes have no loreal scale. The Worm Snakes and the Yellowlipped Snakes have smooth scales.
