A blotched Rat Snake but often with less contrast between pattern and ground color than in the Gray Rat Snake. Blotches usually brownish or bluish black; ground color gray or yellowish. head often black. There may be red on skin between scales, and this color often encroaches upon edges of scales themselves. This race is subject to considerable individual variation in both coloration and pattern. Scales weakly keeled; anal divided.
