Tiny ratlle and skinny tail. Ground color light, usually pale grayish brown. The middorsal dark spots may be highly irregular in shape, but they often tend to form short transverse bars. One or 2 conspicuous rows of dark spots on each side of body. Reddish dorsal stripe sometimes absent. Nine plates on crown of head. Scales keeled; anal single.
